Former NFL Star Antonio Brown Files Not Guilty Response in Attempted Murder Trial

Ex- NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown is heading to Miami to face an attempted murder accusation stemming from a shooting that occurred in May, with his lawyer entering a innocent response on his behalf.

Correctional documents in Essex County, New Jersey, indicate that Brown was freed on Tuesday early for his move to Florida. Brown, one of the most popular players in the National Football League, had relinquished extradition to Florida from New Jersey, in which he was taken after being arrested in the city of Dubai.

Brown’s counsel, Mark Eiglarsh, stated in an email that he has earlier submitted a documented innocent response to the attempted murder accusation. Brown could be in a Miami court as early as Wednesday morning for a release proceeding, Eiglarsh added.

Based on his arrest order, Brown is charged of grabbing a pistol from a protection staffer after a celebrity fighting event in May and firing multiple bullets at a person he had confronted with earlier. The reported victim, Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu, stated to police that one of the bullets touched his neck.

Eiglarsh stated that Brown was only defending himself from Nantambu.

“The steps he was forced to take were exclusively in self-defense against the reported individual’s aggressive behavior. Brown was attacked that night and responded within his rightful right to protect himself,” Eiglarsh commented.

Brown was not immediately detained because at first officers did not recognize Nantambu as a target. It not until later in May that Nantambu provided a detailed statement about the situation to officers and pointed out Brown as the shooter, the report says.

From his social media content, Brown had been residing in the city of Dubai for a number of period. In a message after the altercation, Brown said he was protecting himself because he was “jumped by multiple individuals who tried to take my possessions and bring personal harm to me.”

A level two attempted murder accusation in the state of Florida bears a highest 15-year jail sentence and up to a $10,000 fee in the event of a conviction.

Brown has faced several court challenges over the years. He previously had been accused of battery of a truck employee, several family violence charges, inability to pay child support and other events.

During a 2021 season contest with his team against the opponents, Brown removed his uniform, shoulder pads and gloves and left the arena, leading to his termination by the franchise and practically halting his football career.

Brown, who spent a dozen years in the NFL, was an All-Pro wide receiver who devoted the majority of his time with his team. During his professional life, Brown had nine hundred twenty-eight catches for more than twelve thousand two hundred ninety-one yards, the 28th greatest of all time. He was a multiple-time prestigious pick.
